Imagine Dragons – Battle Cry
Just one more time before I go
I'll let you know
That all this time I've been afraid
Wouldn't let it show
Nobody can save me now, no
Nobody can save me now
Stars are only visible in darkness
Fear is ever-changing and evolving
And I have been poisoned inside
But I, I feel so alive
Nobody can save me now
The king is crowned
It's do or die
Nobody can save me now
The only sound
Is the battle cry
Is the battle cry
Is the battle cry
Nobody can save me now
It's do or die...
Oh
Nobody can save me now
The king is crowned
It's do or die
Nobody can save me now
The only sound
Is the battle cry
Is the battle cry
Is the battle cry
Nobody can save me now
It's do or die...
Just one more time before I go
I'll let you know
That all this time I've been afraid
Wouldn't let it show
Nobody can save me now, no
Nobody can save me now
I chose the song “Battle Cry” by Imagine Dragons because it
relates to Macbeth’s struggles. The lyrics “nobody can save me now,” connects to
Macbeth by he cannot turn back after killing Duncan. The lyrics “the king is
crowned,” connects to Macbeth because he is crowned the new king after Duncan.
The lyrics “it’s do or die,” connects to Macbeth because he killed Duncan and
now he has to continue the bloodshed or he will caught and die. The lyrics
“I’ve been poisoned inside,” is like how the witches poisoned Macbeth’s mind
with the prophecy. The song is a battle cry; Macbeth must fight to the end
before he goes. Also, this song was made for the movie Transformers which suits
Macbeth’s action and violence.
I used to rule the world
Seas would rise when I gave the word
Now in the morning I sleep alone
Sweep the streets I used to own
I used to roll the dice
Feel the fear in my enemy's eyes
Listened as the crowd would sing
Now the old king is dead long live the king
One minute I held the key
Next the walls were closed on me
And I discovered that my castles stand
Upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand
I hear Jerusalem bells a-ringing
Roman cavalry choirs are singing
Be my mirror, my sword and shield
My missionaries in a foreign field
For some reason I can't explain
Once you'd gone there was never
Never an honest word
And that was when I ruled the world
It was a wicked and wild wind
Blew down the doors to let me in
Shattered windows and the sound of drums
People couldn't believe what I'd become
Revolutionaries wait
For my head on a silver plate
Just a puppet on a lonely string
Oh who would ever want to be king?
I hear Jerusalem bells a-ringing
Roman cavalry choirs are singing
Be my mirror, my sword and shield
My missionaries in a foreign field
For some reason I can't explain
I know St Peter won't call my name
Never an honest word
But that was when I ruled the world
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh [x5]
Hear Jerusalem bells a-ringing
Roman cavalry choirs are singing
Be my mirror, my sword and shield
My missionaries in a foreign field
For some reason I can't explain
I know St Peter won't call my name
Never an honest word
But that was when I ruled the world
I chose the song “Viva La Vida” by Coldplay because the
lyrics describe Macbeth. The lyrics “now the old king is dead, long live the
king,” relates by Macbeth murdered Duncan the old king in order to take the new
throne, everyone likes Macbeth in the beginning, and therefore he will be king
for long. The lyrics “one minute I held the key, next the walls were closed on
me” connects by Macbeth was in control, but then got influenced by his wife
trapping in him a position he did not want to be in. The lyrics “just a puppet on a lonely string,
oh who would ever want to be king?” by Macbeth got influenced by the Lady
Macbeth and the prophecy, he was originally satisfied with being thane of
Cawdor. The lyrics “revolutionaries wait, for my head on a silver plate,”
connect by Macbeth get over thrown by the revolution and gets beheaded.
In this farewell
There’s no blood
There’s no alibi
‘Cause I’ve drawn regret
From the truth
Of a thousand lies
So let mercy come
And wash away
What I’ve done
I'll face myself
To cross out what I’ve become
Erase myself
And let go of what I’ve done
Put to rest
What you thought of me
While I clean this slate
With the hands of uncertainty
So let mercy come
And wash away
What I’ve done
I'll face myself
To cross out what I’ve become
Erase myself
And let go of what I’ve done
For what I’ve done
I start again
And whatever pain may come
Today this ends
I’m forgiving what I’ve done!
I'll face myself
To cross out what I’ve become
Erase myself
And let go of what I’ve done
What I’ve done
Forgiving what I’ve done
I chose the
song “What I’ve Done” by Linkin Park because it relates to Macbeth guilt and
consequences. The lyrics “’cause I’ve drawn regrets,” relate by after Macbeth
kills Duncan he already regrets what he has done. The lyrics “I'll face myself,
to cross out what I’ve become,” relates to Macbeth by when he finds out that
Macduff he is not woman born, he faces his fate of death and does not surrender.
The lyrics “there’s no alibi” relates to Macbeth by his alibi failed to work
and got caught by Macduff.
Imagine
Dragons – Demons
When the days are cold
And the cards all fold
And the saints we see
Are all made of gold
When your dreams all fail
And the ones we hail
Are the worst of all
And the blood’s run stale
I wanna hide the truth
I wanna shelter you
But with the beast inside
There’s nowhere we can hide
No matter what we breed
We still are made of greed
This is my kingdom come
This is my kingdom come
When you feel my heat
Look into my eyes
It’s where my demons hide
It’s where my demons hide
Don’t get too close
It’s dark inside
It’s where my demons hide
It’s where my demons hide
At the curtain’s call
It's the last of all
When the lights fade out
All the sinners crawl
So they dug your grave
And the masquerade
Will come calling out
At the mess you made
Don't wanna let you down
But I am hell bound
Though this is all for you
Don't wanna hide the truth
No matter what we breed
We still are made of greed
This is my kingdom come
This is my kingdom come
When you feel my heat
Look into my eyes
It’s where my demons hide
It’s where my demons hide
Don’t get too close
It’s dark inside
It’s where my demons hide
It’s where my demons hide
They say it's what you make
I say it's up to fate
It's woven in my soul
I need to let you go
Your eyes, they shine so bright
I wanna save that light
I can't escape this now
Unless you show me how
When you feel my heat
Look into my eyes
It’s where my demons hide
It’s where my demons hide
Don’t get too close
It’s dark inside
It’s where my demons hide
It’s where my demons hide
I chose the
song “Demons” by Imagine Dragons because it relates the emotional side of
Macbeth. The lyrics “when your dream all fail,” applies to Macbeth’s dream of
being king, he fails to be king as guilt takes him over and gets overthrown. The
lyrics “they dug your grave,” relates to how the witches gave Macbeth false
hope leading Macbeth ultimately to his death. The lyrics “we are still made of
greed,” connects to Macbeth greed because he does not stop at being thane of
Cawdor, he wants more. The lyrics “I say it's up to fate,” connects to Macbeth
because he thinks it fate and the prophecy controlling him, but it’s actually
his free will.
Queen – We Will
Rock You
Buddy you're a boy make a big noise
Playin' in the street gonna be a big man some day
You got mud on yo' face
You big disgrace

(Alright)
I chose the
song “We Will Rock You” by Queen because the lyrics relate to Macbeth’s violence. The lyrics “you got blood on yo’ face,” expresses Macbeth after he
kills Duncan because when he comes out of the room he has blood all over his
hands. The lyrics “you big disgrace,” relates by Macbeth is a disgrace by killing
his king that he was worthy to. The lyrics “wavin' your banner all over the
place,” connects by Macbeth is ready to rule all of Scotland because he is the
new king.
